Ophthalmology trends at EYE INFO 2008

BANGALORE, March 31, 2008 (http://www.expresspharmaonline.com) - All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS) organises annual conferences in different parts of the country to improve the practice of ophthalmic sciences with a focus to encourage scientific and trade activities. EYEINFO 2008, the annual conference of AIOS, was held from January 31 to February 3. The event witnessed approximately 70 companies with 379 trade delegates actively involved in trade promotions and around 3,800 AIOS members, guest delegates, foreign delegates and doctors.

According to Senthil Kumar, senior consultant, PharmARC Analytic Solutions, a Bangalore-based sales and marketing analytics company, more than 80 percent of the trade participants were from surgical and vision care industry.

Major ophthalmology focused pharmaceutical companies like Micro Vision, Allergan, Cipla, Sun Pharma, Novartis, Pfizer, Intas, SunWays, Warren, Jawa and Entode promoted selected brands at event.

According to Kumar, while Moxigram, Lubrex, Optive, Nu Eye, Olopatidive IF1 were among the highly promoted brands at the conference, Patadat by Allergan , Olopatidive IF1 by Clipla are expected to be launched in the near future.

Sun Pharma focused on its new products to be launched soon-Lotopred LS (0.2 percent) - which reduces propensity of IOP evaluations; controls signs and symptoms of SAC; and Azemo (bacterial conjunctivitis) which claims resolution in just nine drops.
